PHY - sunshine state photography
I consider Photographs to be priceless treasures. The older I get and the longer I've been fortunate enough that my profession is also my passion, the more true I hold this statement to be, and the more treasures I continue to gather. Since the advent of the digital age, I have found myself absolutely awash in treasure, but in this case, there is never too much of a good thing.
This philosophy guides my business in several ways. First, I am truly passionate about both photographs as historical documents, photographs as art, and also photographs that trigger emotional response. Whether I am simply out on my own somewhere with my camera, documenting my daily morning commute with my iPhone, or capturing once in a life time moments at a wedding or family vacation, my goal is to embody all 3 of these concepts in my work.
Secondly, to me, photography is about relationships. When it comes to photography, a historical document isn't something dry and dusty, indexed away for some future reference. Instead, it becomes a living thing to the viewer, illustrating everything from the relationships people have with one another to the fashion trends of the time to the technology available to make the photograph possible. Within my personal collection of treasured photographs, I have everything from family photos that are over 100 years old and spanning the entire technological history of photography, complete now with hard drives upon hard drives full of the life I've led, my travels, my family, my loved ones, my friends. No matter what comes next, I will always have these relationships preserved in a tangible form.
That is what my business is all about. For someone who has as much fun as I do at my job, I also take it as seriously as can be. This dedication to quality can be seen in all my work. Digital or not, I still consider my work to be hand-crafted because I spend time to make each image you see special. Each image means something. Each image tells part of your story at that moment in time. And just as important, I am serious about quality equipment, quality processing, quality products, and assured quality when it comes to backing up and preserving your memories.
There is a difference between fast food and fine dining. There is a difference between a Mercedes-Benz and that rental car I upgraded from on a recent trip because it didn't even have automatic locks or windows (and this was a brand new car). There is a difference between the fine art that hangs in the world's greatest museums and the $20 sofa size paintings that you can buy for a limited time at the local Holiday Inn's conference room. And there is definitely a difference between a snapshot, and a photograph that is destined to be a family heirloom for generations to come. Phy Photography is about History. Phy Photography is about Relationships. Phy Photography is about Emotion. All captured and preserved from an artist's eye and carried through to the best archiving and products possible.
